General Information

Lee V. Pollard High School is a California Model Continuation School serving all high school students in the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

Our school motto illustrates our commitment to balancing the rigor of a high school education with the social, emotional supports that at-risk teens need:  Lee V. Pollard High School:  A place where students find success and learn to love school again.

Our Mission Statement reinforces this philiosphy: We seek to serve students who work, who are behind in credit, who have challenging family situations, who have made mistakes, and who have made a real commitment to graduate from high school.

LVPHS serves students using three different programs: Regular Program and Academic Learning Center and independent Study.  All students participate in an intake process that includes an individualized learning plan that focuses on credit recovery and their goals.

Regular Program delivers a small high school experience.  Students take six courses and a homeroom class.  During homeroom, students receive mentoring, monitoring, and encouragement while they complete courses for credit recovery.  Many elective courses are available to all students: ASB, Unity, HVAC, Piano, Choir, Art, Yearbook, Journalism, and others.

In Academic Learning Center, our students attend for 180 minutes each day and complete individualized learning courses under the direction of a credentialed teacher.  Students are expected to also work additional hours independently.

Our Independent Study program is integral to LVPHS.  We use the same texts, resources, support staff, and the same course materials.  Staff interact and support each other throughout the year, and some students are cross-programed into regular program classes.  Students may attend once a week or as much as every day to best meet their needs.

Inclusively, we strive to help each student find success and a pathway to their career, college and future. We help each student select the program that best promotes their growth and success, and we support them when they struggle.

We have greatly expanded our social-emotional support by providing a teacher on special assignment to engage students, coach teachers and coordinate services.  We have counseling services to provide trained, licensed therapists to lead support groups and offer individual therapy to our students during the school day.
