At the end of first semester, senior students were given a presentation regarding Financial Aid. The presentation included links and videos to help students and parents with the application process. This is the link to review the presentation again.

4. Gathering Information Before Getting Started:
   1. Social Security numbers for you and your legal parent(s)
      1. If you don’t have a social security number, you will complete the California Dream Act Application (CaDAA) instead of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
      2. If your parent does not have a social security number, enter 000-00-0000
   2. Profession email for you and 1 parent
      1. The parent email and the student email cannot be the same
      2. Students should not use a CNUSD email (because it expires when you graduate)
   3. Current cell phone number (if available)
   4. Current bank statements and other financial documents
   5. Tax records from 2023

    

5. Getting started: Both the student and the parent will have to create and FSA ID which will serve as your individual login and password.
   1. Parents using 000-00-0000 as a social security should not create an FSA ID.
      1. In this case, electronic submission will not be possible. Rather, a printed copy will have to be completed and mailed in.

    

6. There are 7 steps/sections for both applications (CaDAA and FAFSA). Your gathered documents from step 4 above will help you complete all 7 steps/sections.

8. Be mindful of common mistakes:
   1. Completing the wrong application (CaDAA vs. FAFSA), creating an FSA ID using invalid/incorrect information, transposing numbers, name is inaccurate (nicknames, hyphenated names, middle names, etc.), confusing parent questions with student questions, using wrong tax year information, forgetting to sign & submit by March 2^nd!

4. Recopilación de información antes de comenzar:
   1. Números de Seguro Social para el estudiante y el padre o los padres legales

      1. En este caso, el entrego electrónico no será posible. Más bien, una copia impresa tendrá que ser completada y enviada por correo.

8. Tenga en cuenta los errores comunes:
   1.
